A for Azzurri: A Football Legacy

‘Football Alphabets’ is a collection of football legacies that defined the history, popular culture and dynamics of the game over the course of time. We have picked up each letter from English Alphabet and have chosen one such football cults to associate with them. The list is nowhere exhaustive but will truly portray the essence of the game.

A for Azzurri

The colour of Savoy Blue, which once unified the Italian dynasty, became synonymous to their national football team. From the era of Giuseppe Meazza or Valentino Mazzola to the flamboyance of Paolo Maldini or Roberto Baggio, the colour blue has been always waved high over the football sphere. The colour behind the nation which created ‘catanaccio’, embraced the ‘trequartista’ and became synonymous to masterly tactical football, deserves to be in the coveted list.

.

Other Honorable Mentions: Arthur Pember, Azteca, Ajax Academy, Anfield, Arsenal.
